The Bible Today by C. H. Dodd
C.H. Dodd is recognized as one of the great New Testament scholars of the twentieth century. Dr. Dodd was for many years Professor of New Testament at Cambridge University. Published by the Syndics of the University Press, Cambridge, 1956. This material was prepared for Religion Online by Ted & Winnie Brock.
This book represents a Course of ‘open lectures’ given under the auspices of the Divinity Faculty of the University of Cambridge. The text is partly based on shorthand notes taken by hearers of the lectures, among whom I am particularly indebted to Miss M. Buchanan. Both the substance of the lectures and the general arrangement and manner of treatment are preserved, at the cost of some repetition, but the material has undergone a measure of revision.
Quotations from the Old and New Testaments usually follow the Revised Version, but not scrupulously. I have sometimes silently altered it, and sometimes made my own translation.
